Kris, I like your paintings. You handle the light like a pro! The only suggestion I would have for you is to vary the canvas shapes to better capture the scene, and take a little artistic license to improve the composition. Using a long rectangle instead of a square can impart a feeling of expansiveness, or vertically, can lead the eye up up and away.

Also, your approach to painting reminds me of Hiroshige, the Japanese woodblock printer who took a long journey across Japan and made lanscapes/scenes of daily life in every town he encountered. It's not only interesting because of the individual art works produced, but also as a whole, a document of the journey itself. In your own way, you're sort of documenting Sonoma County.

Kris, it's ages since I visited your blog. I think these recent paintings are terrific. I love the simple shapes and saturated but toned down colours. I think Backlit is my favourite. Keep posting please!

Hi Kris. I'm the person who purchased the garlic painting and the avocado painting from you on Etsy a long time ago. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE art pieces. Anyway, I passed along a blog award to you and the details are on my blog. Cheers!
